Obituary of Ronald Ackaway

ACKAWAY, Ronald E., 54 of Franklin Lakes, died Monday, October 11, 2010, after living a courageous four years with a donor heart from a transplant. He was the delight of his family, son of Madeline and George of Franklin Lakes, adored by his brother George, Jr. and sister-in-law Pat of Boonton and nieces Amy and husband Jessie, Christen and Karen, and great uncle to Aiden. He immeasurably enriched the life of his sister Mary Ackaway Mack of Ridgewood. Ronald was the biggest fan of all Firemen and he enjoyed many years as a member of the Franklin Lakes Fire Department. A gifted musical talent Ronald entertained us with singing Johnny Cash songs and he once even had the pleasure of singing a song with Johnny Cash himself! Ronnie's gifts also included comical imitations of Jackie Mason, Rodney Dangerfield and others. We were blessed by his presence and life will not be the same without his loving smile. Funeral Prayers, Friday, 8:30 AM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, followed by a Funeral Mass, 9:30 AM at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, 1 Passaic Street, Ridgewood. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Ronald's memory to the Franklin Lakes Fire Dept, PO Box 199, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417.
