Obituary of Margaret Streaser

STREASER, Margaret Mary, age 83, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 30, 2010. Born and raised in Morningside Heights, NY where Margaret graduated from Cathedral High School, and married her beloved husband Walter at Corpus Christie Church. They moved to Oakland in 1956 where they raised their family and later moved to Shawnee on the Delaware, PA. In 1992, they moved to Mahwah. Prior to raising her family, Margaret was a secretary for General Eisenhower at Columbia University, NY. In later years she worked as a sales consultant at Bennett Brothers in Mahwah. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, Wyckoff. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband Walter J. to whom she was married for sixty-three wonderful years, and four dear children: Her daughter Carol Ann Streaser of Newburgh, NY, her daughter Peggy MacFarlane of Warwick, NY, her son Walter Brian and wife Nancy of Ridgewood, and son Terrence Michael and wife Susan of Glen Rock. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Donny, Jamie and Christopher MacFarlane; Kate and Emily Hunter; Scott and Jennifer Streaser; Diamo and Kelly Streaser, two great-grandchildren: Reese and Katahvyah and Margaret's sister-in-law Dorothy Montero. Margaret was predeceased by her four sisters and one brother: Sarah, Kathleen, Eugene, Helen, and Theresa. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral Mass, Monday, 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Valley Hospice, c/o Valley Hospital Foundation, 223 North Van Dien Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450 or St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, would be appreciated.
