Obituary of George Hicha

HICHA, George age 89 of Saddle Brook formerly of Franklin Lakes, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, September 18, 2010. Born in Hartford, CT, George lived in Franklin Lakes for 32 years before moving to Saddle Brook . George was the first Air Traffic Controller at Teterboro Airport and was a 36 year veteran of the FAA. He was inducted into the Pan American Aviation Hall of Fame in 1979. George served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps, including duty on Peleliu in the South Pacific. Surviving is his devoted daughter Beverly and her husband Donald F. Motz of Waipahu, HI and his three grandsons, Steven Motz and his wife Amber, Tyler Motz, and Cameron Motz and his wife Jacque all in Hawaii and his sister Helen Wells of Chino Valley, AZ. George was pre-deceased by his wife Florence (nee Grossman) in 1978. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:00 AM from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. Interment will follow in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. Visiting is Wednesday 7:00 to 9:00 PM . Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O.
