Obituary of John Pattman

Pattman, John H. II "Jack" age 73, former Chief of the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department died suddenly on Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Port Jervis, NY. Chief Pattman and his wife the former Jeanne (nee Sherry) of Ho-Ho-Kus, would have been married for 50 years on August 27. They resided in Hemlock Farms, Lords Valley, PA and in Englewood, Florida. Chief Pattman was born in Passaic to the late John and Helen Pattman. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and also was a 1979 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He began his career as a Bergen County Policeman in 1963 and joined the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department in 1964. He became a Sergeant in 1969, a Lieutenant in 1982 and made Captain in 1986 and was named Chief of Police in 1988 before his retirement in 1992. In addition to serving the public as a police officer he served as a Cub Scout leader in Pack 54, a Boy Scout Committee member and he coached several youth sports programs in the Ho-Ho-Kus recreation program. He also owned the Ho-Ho-Kus Aluminum Products company for many years. He was a former parishioner of St. Luke's R. C. Church, Ho-Ho-Kus. He is survived by his 5 loving sons, John and his wife Diane of Midland Park, Michael and his wife Karen of Midland Park, Jeffrey and his wife Christie of Waldwick, Joseph and his wife Lisa of Midland Park and Kevin and his wife Toni Anne of Greensboro, NC. Also surviving are his 13 grandchildren, Allison, Gregory, Eric, Sean, Kyle, Ryan, Elizabeth, Bryan, Ashley, Lily, Amanda, Alison and Andrew, his 2 aunts, Stella Schabel of Venice, FL and Marie Edlkraut of Orange Lake, FL and his 2 cousins, Judith Breton of Venice, FL and Lois Lange of Vernon. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Olthuis Funeral Home, www.olthuisfuneralhome.com, 159 Godwin Ave. Midland Park, NJ. Funeral Mass Thursday 11 am at St. Luke's R.C. Church, 340 Franklin Tpk, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Private cremation will be held. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 would be appreciated.
