Obituary of Claire King

KING, Claire, age 90, of Wyckoff, NJ, entered into the presence of her Lord on Friday, July 16, 2010. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Claire was born in Paterson, and was a long-time resident of Wyckoff, before moving to Mahwah with her husband, John King. She spent the last seven years of her life as a resident of the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff where she received the utmost care and love from everyone. She was a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff, and a dedicated volunteer at the Corner Closet in Hawthorne. She leaves behind her four children: John E. King, and wife, Ellie, of Wyckoff; Steven E. King, and wife, Barbara, of Butler; Roger King of Prospect Park; and Nancy Berkovitz, and husband, Kevan, of Abington, PA. Claire also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Sheryl Pierce, and husband Richard; John E. King, Jr. and wife Deborah; Sandra Chiera, and husband Christopher; Laura King; Steven King, and wife Abigail; Phillip, Carlie and Alayna Bennink, and Gia Berkovitz. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren: Mattison and Dylan Chiera, and Richard John and Julia Pierce, and her brother Samuel Greydanus, and his wife, Elsie, of Saugatuck, MI. Claire was pre-deceased by her husband, John King, who died in 1998; two sisters, Francis Greydanus and Pearl Steiginga, and two brothers, John, and Neil Greydanus. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral Service, Monday, July 19, 2010, 11:00 AM at the funeral home followed by interment at Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah.
