Obituary of James Parker

PARKER, James J., Jr. age 71, a lifelong resident of Midland Park, died July 14, 2010. Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Mary, his devoted sons, James J. Parker III and his wife Catherine, and Richard F. Parker and his wife Cathleen, all of Mahwah, and his loving daughter Lisa Parker and her husband Todd Fliegel of Allendale. Jim also leaves his adoring and cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Isabella, Liam, Abigail, Carina, Colin, Parker and Reagan. He was predeceased by his parents, James Parker and Mary. Jim owned and operated James Parker and Son Inc. in Midland Park for the past 52 years. He served in the United States Army. He was a proud member of the Bergen Irish Association, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park, being a parishioner there since it was established. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 between 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will follow on Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10:00am at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park. Interment will be in the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' name to Tomorrows Children's Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center Glioblastoma Research.
