Obituary of Dorothy Van Blarcom

VAN BLARCOM, DOROTHY C., former resident of Wyckoff and Mahwah, journeyed to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at home in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Born December 3, 1918 to a dairy farmer in Fair Lawn, Michael and Mary Covello. Know to close friends as Dottie 'O, she was married to her husband Mark at the original St. Elizabeth's Church in Wyckoff. Dottie was an entrepreneur, owning her own lingerie store in the 1940s. During the 1950's and 60's Dottie and her husband Mark owned Van's Tavern on Maple Avenue, Ridgewood. Dottie was member of the Women's VFW Auxiliary in Wyckoff and an active member of the Wildflower Homeowners Association in North Ridgeville, OH. She was a proud, full of life 91 year young classy lady living independently in her beautiful condo. Dottie loved life, still loved to dance at home with her friends and granddaughter to old records of wartime songs. She loved sunsets, harvest moons and eclipses. If you were to ask anyone what they thought of Dottie, they would all agree that an inspiration she was indeed. She touched everyone's life in a beautiful way and everyone that knew her said, "it was a privilege to have known her and to have her as my friend". Dottie has made her mark and touched so many hearts. "Make ALL your Dreams Come True ", she would tell you. When making calls, she would say, "I won't say goodbye, I will say, until we meet again". YOU HAVE GOT TO LOVE THAT DOTTIE...YES WE ALL DO! You will be missed and never forgotten! Her legacy is shown in her daughter Carol Van Blarcom, of Ohio, her granddaughter Elyse Daley Zaplin of Santa Fe, New Mexico, her great granddaughter Sylvie Anne Zaplin and her brother Pat Covello, 90 years young of Toms River, NJ. Dottie was pre-deceased by husband of 46 years, Marcus E. Van Blarcom; and her sisters Ann Van Blarcom, Rose Beekman, and Josephine Lamoureux. Visiting hours are Saturday, July 3, 2010, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff. Funeral Mass is 12:15pm at St. Elizabeth's RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Entombment will be beside her husband at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. AN INSPIRATIONAL ICON
