Obituary of Walter Kuzbyt

KUZBYT, Walter "Mickey", age 86, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Born in Passaic, he lived in Elmwood Park and Midland Park before moving to Mahwah. Walter was a Bergen County police officer for 27 years before retiring in 1977. He served his country during World War II in the European Theater in the United States Army. Walter was a member of American Legion Post 55, Hackensack for 62 years. He served as the NJ State Commander of the American Legion from 1990 to 1991 and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans Council of Bergen County, the VFW and Elks Club. Walter is survived by his beloved wife Lillian to whom he was married for 61 years, his children: Michele Dunn, Patti Lettich, and Peter Kuzbyt. Also survived by seven grandchildren: Kelly, Edward, Thomas, Scott, Keith, Jesse and Ashley. Friends may visit the family on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. Funeral Service, Saturday, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256, would be appreciated.
