Obituary of Robert McGarvie

McGarvie, Robert age 77 of Allendale, died Thursday, June 10, 2010. Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of John and Antoinette McGarvie, he lived in Allendale since 1984. Robert was a 1951 Graduate of Mt. St. Michael and a 1961 Graduate of New York University. He was an Air Force Veteran who served from 1952-1960. Robert was an Executive in the chemical industry before his retirement in 2000. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, Wyckoff and volunteered at the food pantry through St. Elizabeth's Church. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Kathleen (nee Rocks) McGarvie of Allendale, his 7 children, Patricia and her husband Eric Rabinowitz of Ho Ho Kus, NJ, Jeanne and her husband Kevin Dunn of Bedford, NY, Kathleen and her husband Mark Hogan of Delmar, NY, John McGarvie of New York, NY, Robert and his wife Catherine McGarvie of Ramsey, NJ, Carolyn and her husband Jack Edwards of Ramsey, NJ and Mark and his wife Tonine McGarvie of Waldwick, NJ. Also surviving are his 14 grandchildren and his brother, James McGarvie, Ft. Myers, Florida. He was predeceased by his brother, John McGarvie in 1994. Visiting Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass Monday 10 AM at St. Elizabeth R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Interment Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations to Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 212, Midland Park, NJ 07432 would be appreciated.
