Obituary of Christopher Brandle

Christopher Brian Brandle, age 10 of Oakland passed away peacefully at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York Presbyterian on March 31 after bravely fighting medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer, for seven months. Christopher touched so many people during his ten short years with his great kindness, contagious laughter and terrific sense of humor. All who spent time around Chris during his illness, including his doctors, nurses, family and friends were amazed at his bravery and indomitable spirit as he battled this disease. He will be deeply missed by his adoring parents, Brian and Mary, his sister, Caitie, his maternal grandparents, Donald and Audrey Gheysen, his paternal grandmother, Charlotte Brandle and her companion, George Pyryt, his uncles and aunts Sean and Irene Brandle, Bill and Kim Raiford, Pam Gheysen, Jim and Jeanette O'Connor and Kurt and Amy Labanowski, his cousins, Jackie, Michael, Jimmy, Jimmy, Lizzie, Nicole, Nick and Jake, his dog Sadie and his many friends. Christopher can best be described as someone who had a genuine joi d'vie, or joy of life. He was a very bright student who loved going to school, being with his friends and playing baseball and basketball. He loved sports and enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Yankees, Giants and Devils. He especially loved attending Devils games with his dad. Christopher cherished spending time and vacationing with his cousins. He also loved going to Peconic, Long Island every year to celebrate the 4th of July with dear family friends. Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 and Wednesday 2-4 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, New Jersey. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, 6:30 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church, 117 Franklin Ave. Oakland, NJ 07436. Private Cremation will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Christopher Brandle Joy of Life Foundation P.O. Box 354, Oakland NJ 07436, would be greatly appreciated. www.vpfh.com
