Obituary of Christine White

WHITE, Christine Hencken, of Bergenfield died peacefully in her sleep on March 10, 2010 on her 29th birthday. She is survived by her parents, Walter Wilsey White and Sandra Stuchell White of Wyckoff, her sisters, Heather Bray White of New York, and Whitney Wilsey White of Wyckoff. Also surviving are her aunts and uncles, Edward and Sara White of Chicago, William T. Stuchell of Richmond VA and Jane Stuchell of Towaco, NJ and her cousin Claudine Emeott of Chicago. Chrissie was raised in Wyckoff and graduated as a Bloustein scholar from Ramapo High School in 1999. Chrissie was an epee fencer and fenced at high school as well as at Cornell where she twice won the prestigious Cointe Award for "Honor Our Traditions-Respect The Rules". Her final two years at Cornell she was a resident advisor for a freshman dormitory. She was a recipient of the Cornell Tradition, a nationally recognized Fellowship for students who demonstrate significant work experience, community service and academic achievement. Chrissie graduated in 2003 with a BA from Cornell. She taught first grade in the south Bronx for one year, was an aid for special need students at Ramapo H.S. and most recently a teacher at Eastern Christian High School. She also was a tutor. Chrissie touched uncountable individuals, as she lived life to the fullest, loved unconditionally, and put others before herself. She was truly an inspiration, role model, and some have said an angel on this earth. Everyone who came in contact with Chrissie could see her love for the Lord and His radiance shone through her face. Her favorite verse was "Rejoice in the Lord always" Phil.4:4. She was secretary for her church, His Throne Room Ministries. Her family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations for the Christine H. White Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Family will receive friends Saturday, March 20, 2-5 PM at Wyckoff Reformed Church Heneveld Hall, 580 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. A time of remembrance of Chrissie's life will take place, Sunday March 21, 3 PM at Heneveld Hall, followed by the service of the Resurrection 4 PM in the Wyckoff Reformed Church. Interment, Monday, March 22, 10 AM at Valleau Cemetery, 660 East Glen Ave., Ridgewood. Please meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 AM.
