Obituary of Adele Cooke

COOKE, Adele Julia, 83, beloved wife of over 41 years to the late John Raymond Cooke, died February 18, 2010, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA, surrounded by her family. Born in Paterson, NJ, She lived in Midland Park for many years, then in Mahwah and finally moved to Peabody, MA in 2004. Mrs. Cooke graduated from William Paterson College and was listed among Who's Who American College Students. She worked as a teacher at the Upper Montclair and Midland Park elementary schools in New Jersey. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Adele was dedicated to her family and her community. She was a long time member of the Broadway Baptist Church and sang with the Ridgewood Choral Choir. She volunteered with The Depot, which benefits family counseling services, and at the Valley Hospital. Most recently, Mrs. Cooke was a member of the Brooksby Protestant Faith Community in Peabody, MA, where she lived since 2004. Adele is survived by her two daughters, Carole Adele Cooke Derr of Nottingham, PA and Patricia Neal Cooke Glass of Hamilton, MA; her six grandchildren Joshua, Morgan, Trevor and Abigail Derr and Hannah and Lilly Glass; and her two great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Christopher Derr. She will be remembered for her dedication to children of all ages. Visiting hours will be Friday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ, www.vpfh.com. Funeral will be Saturday, 9:30am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
