Obituary of Warren Chiodo

CHIODO, Warren J. 58, of Bluffton, SC (formerly of Midland Park, NJ) passed away on February 15, 2010. He was born on October 10,1951 in Paterson, NJ and grew up in Fair Lawn, graduating from Fair Lawn High School. He was a member of the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, Fair Lawn Ambulance Corp., served as a police officer for the Bergen County Sheriff's Dept., and retired as a Lieutenant from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. After retiring, he owned and operated Associates Security at the Yeshiva of North Jersey. He later fully retired with his wife to Bluffton, SC, where he enjoyed the gorgeous weather and southern hospitality. He was an avid volunteer, donating his time to such organizations as the March of Dimes, youth sports leagues in Midland Park, NJ, the Bergen Catholic High School Football Program, Marine Toys for Tots, St. Anthony's Church as a lectern, Eucharistic Minister, and RCI sponsor for those entering the Catholic faith, and Heroes on Horseback in South Carolina. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda, his proud son, Warren A., and his beautiful daughter-in-law Brook. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Warren and Madeline, and his older brother, Michael. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ. Visiting is Friday, February 19, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to the Heroes on Horseback, 203 Stillwell Road, Bluffton, SC 29910-6611 or the charity of your choosing.
