Obituary of Alberta De Blaey

DE BLAEY, Alberta A. "Bert" (nee De Leeuw) age 73 of Wyckoff, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 after an 8 year battle with ovarian cancer. Bert was born in Clifton on November 19, 1936. She lived in both Midland Park and Wyckoff for the past 50 years. She was a dental receptionist for Dr. Elliot Frey in Wyckoff for more than 30 years before her retirement in 2004. Bert and her husband Paul and family were members of the Irving Park Christian Reformed Church in Midland Park for 34 years before a merger with the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff. She was a member of the Coffee Break Bible Study, Tuesday Night Connection, her Christ Care Group and the Cedar Hill Choir. Bert volunteered at the Corner Closet and de Snoep Winkle Gift Shop. She was an avid golfer and loved her knitting and other hand work. Surviving is her loving husband of 52 years Paul H. De Blaey, her devoted children, Sharon and her husband Mark Vander Weit and Pam and her husband Jay Goemaat all of Midland Park and Tim De Blaey and his wife Heather of Grand Rapids, MI. Bert also leaves her 8 adoring grandchildren; Michael, Ryan and Kari Vander Weit, Kristine, Sharon and Jonathan Goemaat and Grace and Leah De Blaey. Bert was pre-deceased by her brother Bernard De Leeuw and her parents Bert and Ada De Leeuw. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church, 422 Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will be private in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. Visiting will be Thursday 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff.
