Obituary of Donald TenKate

TEN KATE, Donald, age 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 29, 2010. Born in Midland Park, he lived in the borough most of his life, including the last 50 years. Don was a truck driver with Farmland Dairy until retiring in 1995. He was a member of Faith Reformed Church, Midland Park, where he served as deacon and elder. Don served his country in the United States Marines Corps and was a life member of the Midland Park Fire Company. Survived by his beloved wife Jeanne to whom he was married for 57 wonderful years, his daughter Laurie Ten Kate of Midland Park, his daughter Kristen Amos and husband Jim of Midland Park, and his daughter-in-law Nancy Ten Kate of Freeville, NY. He is also survived by four dear grandchildren who affectionately called him Pake, Michael and wife LouAnne Ten Kate, and Nathan, Adrianna and Jeremy Amos, two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Madeline Ten Kate, his two brothers, James and John Ten Kate and his sister Janet Zimmerman. Don was predeceased by his two sons, Donald Ten Kate in 2009 and Paul Ten Kate in 1960. Cremation was private. A gathering of friends will take place on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Olthuis Funeral Home (www.olthuisfuneralhome.com), 159 Godwin Ave. Midland Park. A memorial service celebrating Don's life will take place on Wednesday, 12:00 Noon at Faith Reformed Church 95 Prospect Street, Midland Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Faith Reformed Church Memorial Fund or the Faith Reformed Church Haitian Relief Fund, would be appreciated.
