Obituary of Herta DeCenzo

DE CENZO, Herta Zerrenner age 93, died peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2009 surrounded by her family at her home in Waldwick. Herta was born in Germany on November 13, 1915. She came to the United States in 1928. She married Carl Zerrenner and had two sons Robert and Harry. While raising her two sons, Herta worked multiple jobs including overseeing rooming houses in Weehawkin. After her husband Carl died in 1960, she helped her sons run their restaurants, including the Hoagie House, The Bottom of the Barrel, Talk of the Town and the Grand Saloon where she was affectionately known as Omi. Herta will be sorely missed for her generosity and freshly baked gifts which she made for family and friends. She is survived by her loving companion and husband Louis DeCenzo, her devoted son Robert, her daughters in her heart Joy, Sheila and Johanna, her adoring grandchildren, Tamatha, Thomas, Kristen, Erik, Kyle, Holly, Rory and Mark. Herta also leaves her 7 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her beloved son Harry Zerrenner in 1997. A graveside service will be held Tuesday 11:00 am at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corp., P.O.Box 244, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
