Obituary of George Wrocklage

WROCKLAGE, George Henry, Jr., age 86 OF Waldwick, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. George was born April 3, 1923 in New York City. He married Josephine A. (Jones) in 1950, moving to Waldwick in 1954. Mr. Wrocklage was a WWII veteran serving with the 1276th Engineer Combat Battalion in European Theater. He earned a BA in Administrative Engineering from NY University College of Engineering in 1949, a Master of Science in 1976, and a Master of Business Administration in 1980 from Fairleigh Dickinson, Rutherford, NJ. He worked at Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ as an Industrial Engineer for 28 years until his retirement in 1985. George was a parishioner of St. Luke's R.C. Church in HoHoKus. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jo; seven sons, Thomas E. (Cathy) of Waldwick, NJ, Daniel G. (Kim) of Kinnelon, NJ, Michael J. (Tammie) of Santa Barbara, CA, Richard D. (Kay) of Haskell, NJ, James P. of Waldwick, Donald (Mary Beth) of Oakland, NJ, and George J. of Upper Saddle River, NJ; two daughters, Elizabeth M. Wrocklage of Waldwick, NJ and Mrs. Eileen (Claude) Pillori of Denville, NJ; one sister, Mrs. Rita A. O'Connor of Bronxville, NY; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary C. Jones, of South Bend, IN; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and 19 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, George (Geordie) H. Wrocklage, III in 1956; his brother John F. and sisters Virginia McNamara and Marion DiTolla. Friends and family may call at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Due to renovations; Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ. Interment will follow at the Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O.Box 244, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
