Obituary of Norma Walters

WALTERS, Norma, age 75 died on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Born in St. Louis, MO she lived in Saddle River before moving to Hawthorne 10 years ago. Norma will be remembered for her courage, independence and the talent given from the God she so revered. Norma designed ladies ready to wear for some of the most prestigious labels on 7th Avenue in New York City and ultimately did so under her own label known as Norma Walters and Company. The company had 400 US points of distribution and 40 internationally, including Neiman Markus, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, Lord and Taylor and Nordstrom's. The product she designed was respected industry wide, and her retail following recognized their purchase as the finest available in the market place. She is survived by her son James Walters of East Hanover, her daughter Christine Gubb of Ridgewood and 8 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Marie Luhn and Vera Moceri, both of St. Louis, MO. Visiting hours are Sunday 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Funeral Mass is Monday 11:00 am at St. Gabriel's RC Church, 88 East Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458. Entombment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
