Obituary of Thomas V. Marchitelli

Thomas V. Marchitelli “Tom” passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the age of 74. Born in Hackensack, NJ, he lived in Oakland, NJ before moving Wyckoff,NJ 35 years ago.  Before retiring in 2015, Tom was self-employed garment manufacturer in South Hackensack and the former co-owner of the Lyndhurst Coat Company. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff, proudly served in the United States Army Reserves from 1964-1970, enjoyed playing the guitar, classic cars and drag racing. 

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barbara A. Marchitelli; daughter Christine Petrino, her husband Michael; son Thomas F. Marchitelli; two grandsons: Nicholas and Jake; two brothers: Vincent Marchitelli, his wife Lucille; Anthony Marchitelli, his wife Carole; a sister Diane McLeod and her husband Ed. Tom is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Mayo Clinic, c/o Myelofibrosis Research, 200 First Street S.W., Rochester, Minnesota 55905.
