Obituary of Lucy Thomas

Lucy F. Thomas, 89 formerly of Belmar and Midland Park, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Van Dyk Manor in Ridgewood surrounded by her family.

 

Born and raised in Mahanoy City, PA, she moved to Philadelphia where she met and married her husband, Fred.  They eventually settled in Midland Park, where they lived for 47 years. She was a parishioner at the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park.  Throughout her career she was employed by Garcia Corporation and Fisher Scientific, and volunteered at Bergen Pines Regional Medical Center.

 

Fred and Lucy retired from Midland Park to their Jersey Shore beach house in Belmar in 2007 where they were members of St. Rose of Lima Church and she volunteered at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.

 

Lucy was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Fred in 2016.  Lucy is survived by her four children Diane Muenzen and her husband, Dr. Christopher P., Fred Thomas and his wife Patricia, Rosanne Matzat and her husband Gregory, Lisa Dickinson and her husband Charles; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Gregory, Elizabeth, Meredith, Robert, Karl, Reid, and John.

 

Visiting hours will be this Saturday, from 10AM to 12PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Service is Saturday, 12:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park.
