Obituary of Marjorie Merdler

Marjorie Merdler, 98 years, of Midland Park, formerly of Hawthorne and Paterson, passed away Tues., January 2nd.  She was married for 42 years to the late Edward (1985). Mother to David and Barbara Merdler of Wyckoff, Nana to Bryan (Wyckoff) and Elizabeth (Jacksonville, Florida) and Great Grandmother to Brianna. She was predeceased by her sisters May and Blanche.  Marjorie was born and raised in Liverpool, England. Edward left the British Army and married Marjorie in 1942. Together with David they emigrated to Canada in 1948, entered the US in Seattle, and eventually Paterson, then Hawthorne, NJ where they set up a home. Marjorie and Ed opened a Beauty Shop in Midland Park and ran it through the early 80’s. She went on to work for Meyer Bros Dept. Store in Wayne until retiring and moving to her Condo in Midland Park in 1990.  Marjorie loved to shop, collect jewelry and travel, visiting England often to see her friends and relatives. She was a font of information about WW2 and its effect on her life in England. She was quite knowledgeable about English History and the Monarchy but was always appreciative of the US and was always an American as she put it.  Service will be private followed by cremation. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Marjorie's memory may be made to the Midland Park Ambulance Corp or St. Jude's Children’s Hospital.
