Obituary of Johanna J. Stavinga

Stavinga, Johanna J. (Kersaan) “Tena” age 91 of Wyckoff, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, November 13, 2017.  Born in Groningen, the Netherlands.  Tena came to the United States and settled with her family in Prospect Park later moving to Hawthorne. She was a faithful member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff.  One of her favorite past times was to crochet, she made it a point to donate a lot of her handiwork to the church. Tena and her husband Derk donated much of their time to helping others, including the Red Cross and the CRWRC.  Surviving are her devoted children, Jacob Stavinga and his wife Jan, Trudi and her husband Henry Churco and Marian and her husband Tim Trossman.  Tena also leaves 10 adoring grandchildren Brian, Kristen, Daniel, Timothy, Richard, Melanie, Nicole, Kevin, John and Matthew and 10 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Derk in 2013.  The family will receive friends on Friday 10 until 11 AM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff followed by funeral services at 11 am. Private interment will be in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508.
