Obituary of Richard E. Wright, Sr.

Richard “Dick” E. Wright, Sr., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 6, 2017. He was 80. Born in the Bronx, NY, he was a long time resident of Waldwick. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Before retiring, Richard was the Vice President of Operations at Russ Berrie & Co., Inc. in Oakland. Dick was a parishioner at St. Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, a volunteer at SCORE in Hackensack and at the Luckow Pavillion at Valley Hospital in Paramus. Dick was a member of the Waldwick VFW, an avid fisherman and animal lover especially his dog Cassie. Dick survived by his wife of 60 years Louise Wright; two daughters; Elizabeth Ann Lagoda, her husband Dale, Ann M. Pospisil, her husband Steven; two sons: Richard E. Wright, Jr., his wife Denise and William Wright, his wife Candace and the proud grandpa to Shawn, Douglas, Robert, Brittany, Ryan, Marc, Kenneth, Sydney and Zachary. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4 – 8 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Interment will follow in Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
