Obituary of Janet M. Weis

Janet M. (nee McGinness) Weis, 84, on August 30, 2017.  Janet was born and raised in Bogota, NJ and graduated from St. Cecilia HS and St. Elizabeth College.  She also received a Master’s in Divinity from Darlington Seminary.  She was the beloved wife of Jack for 63 years and the mother of Jack Jr. (Sherry), Kathy, Bob (Trish), Maureen (Bill Weir) and cherished grandmother of Tim, Annie, Jeff, David, Sean, Kasey, Julia and Megan.  While her main vocation was caring for her family, she also was a tireless provider for others, both friends and strangers alike.

Janet worked for both the Archdiocese of Newark and the Midland Park library for many years.  She also volunteered at the Church of the Nativity in many facets for over 50 years and Valley Hospital for the last 20 years, most recently with Palliative Care, Pastoral Care and the Medical Library. She provided endless comfort and encouragement to many, whether through her work, a written note or card, a home cooked meal or a needed drive.  She touched the lives of all those she met.

Visiting will be on Tuesday, 4-8 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com,  257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.  Funeral Mass Wednesday, 11 am at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St.  Midland Park, NJ.  Private Cremation will be held.
