Obituary of Walter J. Zbierski

Zbierski, Walter James, Jr., age 74, of Teaneck, passed away peacefully with family and friends at his side on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017. Walter was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and lived in North Bergen and Teaneck, NJ. Walter was a church painter by trade, but also held various other full and part time jobs over the years. He was an active member of the Chief Justice Knights of Columbus, Teaneck/Bogota Council 2586 for the past 41 years. He enjoyed doing charity work for the Knights of Columbus, but his greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family and dear friends. He is survived by his wife, Helen, his son, Joseph and his wife, Tracey, and his four granddaughters – Casey, Kelly, Hannah and Holly. Also surviving is his sister, Florence Santarelli, and her husband Paul, his brother Kenneth, his sister-in-law, Mary Adams, and nephews, Paul, Alan, and Keith, niece Kimm, and many loving cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Constance and Walter Zbierski, Sr., his daughter JoAnn in 2006, and his sister-in-law, Frances (Cookie) in 2009. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30th from 3-7pm at Volk-Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 31st at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 400 Maywood Ave., Maywood, NJ 07607. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd., North Arlington, NJ 07031. Arrangements were handled by Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com.
