Obituary of Doreen E. Massarelli

Massarelli, Doreen, E., of Saddle River, died peacefully on February 1, 2017. Beloved daughter of the late Dr. Lucian Massarelli and Dorothy (Maloney) Massarelli. Dear sister of Dianne Martel of Bedford, New Hampshire and Dr. Kevin Massarelli of Ewing, New Jersey. Loving aunt of William and Catherine Martel and Brian Massarelli. Dear cousin of Cheryl Maloney. She also leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles. A longtime resident of Saddle River, N.J., Doreen was born in Columbus, Ohio and grew up in Oradell, N.J. She attended the Academy of the Holy Angels and Stonehill College and later worked for the American Horse Shows Association. She was an avid equestrian and dedicated horsewoman. Doreen cherished her dogs and other pets and was devoted to the welfare of all animals. Doreen was a warm and generous person who loved, and was deeply loved by, her family and friends. Visiting hours are February 6th from 4-8pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, N.J. 07481. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 7th at 10am at St. Gabriel’s Church, 88 E. Saddle River Rd., Saddle River, N.J. 07458. Interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, 25 Seminary Road, Mahwah, N.J. 07430.
