Obituary of William J. Putignano

Putignano, William J. age 85 of Franklin Lakes passed away peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Born in Hasbrouck Heights, he lived in Maywood before moving to Franklin Lakes in 1978. Bill was an Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War. Before his retirement he was the Director of Research and Development for Perfect Parts of Carlstadt, NJ. His keen mind for all things automotive provided a comfortable career in a field that he fit into naturally. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s RC Church where he served as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister at daily mass. He was a former member of the Franklin Lakes Seniors. He was an accomplished, self-taught home baker who specialized in breads, cookies and various Italian meals that everyone loved. Relatives, neighbors, and church friends all embraced his goodness as a person and as a chef. Surviving are his wife Marie (nee Pless) Putignano of Franklin Lakes, his sister Ida (Michael) Sullivan of Houston, TX and his brother, Michael (Dott) Putignano of Myrtle Beach, SC and sister in laws Grace and Hilda. He is predeceased by parents Anna and Antonio, sisters Antoinette (Walter) and Jean (Alfred), brothers Patrick and Vito, sister in law Ruth. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass Friday 10am at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Interment to follow in Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
