Obituary of Mary Irene Gallagher

Gallagher, Mary Irene (O’Connor), “Rene”, age 92, died peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Irene was born in New Castle, PA and had lived in Hillcrest Heights, MD before moving to Waldwick in 1967. She was a homemaker, who with her loving husband, Vincent, spent her time caring for and raising their family. Mary was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity and a strong woman of faith, which she exhibited as a member of the Rosary Altar Society, Legion of Mary and the Padre Pio Group. Mary Irene is survived by her devoted husband, Vincent of 70 years and her children: James, Vincent and Patrick Gallagher, Maureen Schmidt, Kathleen Biello-Peters, Thomas Gallagher, Geralyn Vadell and Mary Lyons, Grandchildren: Paulette, John Paul, Marguerite, Scott, John, Rick, Christina, Jason, Bethann, Michelle, Andrea, Matt, Lauren, Nicholas, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Adam, Rachel, Keith, and Great-Grandchildren: Isabelle, Allison, Vincent, Kevin, Megan, Jillian, Kylee, Luke, Shayn, Sydney, Tyler, Cody, Magdalene, Amelia, Jeanne Marie and Christopher. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1st, from 2:00- 4:00, 7:00-9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Mary Irene’s life will take place on Thursday, February 2nd at 10:00 am at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432. The interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
