Obituary of Margaret C. Avagnano

Avagnano, Margaret C. ”Peggy” (nee Dowd), age 80 of Waldwick, died Thursday, May 19, 2016. Born in Jersey City, Peggy lived in Kearny before moving to Waldwick 60 years ago. Before her retirement in 1995 Peggy worked as a Nurse and Dietician at the Ridgewood Nursing Home. She was a parishioner of St. Luke’s RC Church in HoHoKus. Her children and grandchildren were her priority and she loved to care for them. Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph J. Avagnano and her devoted sons, Louis and his wife Jamie and Jerry Avagnano. Peggy also leaves her adoring grandchildren, Jesse, Dean, Montana, Jenna and Lucas. Also surviving are her two sisters, Eileen Motz and Kitty Monahan and her brother Joseph Dowd. The Avagnano family will receive friends on Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:00 AM from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Luke’s RC Church, 340 Franklin Tpk., HoHoKus, NJ. Interment will be in the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. Memorial contributions in Peggy’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, Bergen Unit, 20 Mercer Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
